Food in my Life.
In my life I have always related food with two things in life, my family and my health. However, these often are intermingled because of the way my family values food. We are a very athletic family and are constantly trying to find different ways to stay active; so therefore we tend to choose our food accordingly. The dictionary defines food as any nourishing substance that is eaten, drunk, or otherwise into the body to sustain life, provide energy, and promote growth. As a family we try to live by that definition as much as possible, but like most people we come across circumstances where we would rather eat for pleasure instead of only eating for nourishment. When is it okay to eat for pleasure? How many times throughout a month? These questions make it possible for varying definitions of healthy.
I have found myself to be the family member that strays the farthest from the healthy path. I have recently realized that I am not a fan of doing that; therefore I have been trying to obtain a better grasp of an overall essence of living a healthy lifestyle including working out and consumption of food. Everybody has different eating patterns. For example, some people choose to skip out on breakfast or others choose to eat dinner at 9 P.M. All human beings are diverse in all things and eating or choosing what food to eat is no different. Finding what works for me is my ultimate goal. Eating french fries or having a burger for dinner might taste the best at the time, but will it be worth it at the end? My answer to that question is no because I have recognized I feel best when I eat what is best for me even though it is difficult to do.
Although my family prefers to make healthy choices, one of our favorite things to do together is go out to eat. We like a variety of different places, but ideally will stick to our number one choice, Red Robin. Whether we choose to stick to healthful eating or not, we always enjoy each other's company. I have had some of my best times when my family and some of our close friends are out to eat celebrating birthdays, graduations, or simply getting together to enjoy conversation. Nothing is better than a night of good food & good friends!
